Mechanical Engineering Services

As medical devices continue to improve the lives of patients, Neuma partners with its customers to get products to market quickly and successfully. Through a Design for Production (DFP) approach we focus on producing innovative solutions created with the foresight of commercial scale to avoid the delays that plague many programs as they move from prototype to high volume production.

Our Mechanical Engineering Skillsets

Our team has a diverse background in medical device design and is experienced in single-use (disposable), multi-use (durable), implantable, on body (wearable), and off body devices.  Our mechanical engineering team works directly with our other in-house teams (e.g. electronic engineering, quality engineering, test engineering or drug container engineering) and preferred development partners (e.g. prototype molders) to produce integrated electromechanical systems.  We pride ourselves on producing devices that adhere to design requirements in a form ready for commercial production.  Some of our design capabilities include:

  • Design for production: Design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) capabilities to reduce time, cost, and waste

  • Electromechanical design integration

  • Design for ingress protection (e.g. IPX7)

  • Design for micro-molding to achieve compact design architecture

  • Preferred vendor relationships

  • Assembly and test fixture design

  • Process development

  • Mechanism design

  • Enclosure design

  • Rapid prototype production

  • Analyses: FEA simulations, tolerance analysis and/or analytical analyses

  • FMEA creation and review (DFMEA & PFMEA)

  • Design expertise with plastics, metals, glass, and rubber

  • Timeline and budget development

  • Low volume assembly supporting comprehensive design characterization

  • Biocompatibility material selection

  • Human factors device development

  • Heat staking process development

  • And more!
